Since 1950, Macalaster Bicknell Company of New Jersey has been a preferred supplier of high tech glass tubing and supplies. But we also stock a vast supply of scientific glassware products that are most often used in laboratory applications. In addition to bottles, flasks and beakers, we also offer a selection of glass funnels.
Pyrex Funnels
Unlike common household funnels, our Pyrex funnel is made of borosilicate glass. The glass is forged from boron trioxide and silica, giving it a low coefficient of thermal expansions. Subsequently, the glass has a high resistance to chemical and thermal shock, making it ideal for laboratory use.
A stemless Pyrex funnel is most often used for recrystallization. During this process, long stem funnels provide a place for solutions to cool. Crystals can begin forming within the stem, blocking the funnel. We offer stemless glass Pyrex funnels in 50mm, 65mm, 75mm and 100mm sizes. All of our funnels feature a 60-degree angle.
When used with filter paper, a Pyrex funnel can be used during filtration as well. This process removes fine particles from liquids.
Sep Funnels
Macalaster Bicknell also supplies glass separatory funnels. This kind of Pyrex funnel is also known as a separation funnel or sep funnel. This laboratory glassware is used in liquid-liquid extractions to separate out components with different densities. The separatory funnel is cone-shaped with a hemispherical end. A stopcock is situated at the base, and a stopper is located on top. We stock separatory funnels in 125mL, 250mL, 500mL and 1000mL sizes.
