Pyrex Bottles

Our Pyrex bottles are made of borosilicate glass. The combination of silica and boron trioxide gives the glass a low coefficient of thermal expansion. Therefore, the glass is highly resistant to thermal shock and stress, more so than any other common glass. The glass is also chemical resistant, effectively minimizing the risk of cross contamination. These properties make it ideal for storing chemicals and solutions.

Macalaster Bicknell stocks four different types of Pyrex bottles.

Reagent bottles are glass containers topped by special caps or stoppers. Some bottles may be tinted amber, brown or red to protect the light-sensitive solutions within from infrared and ultra violet radiation. We offer Reagent bottles in 125mL, 250mL, 500mL, 1000mL and 2000mL sizes.

Solution bottles are aptly named for storing solutions or media for preparation. The Pyrex bottles often feature necks that have been purposefully designed to increase mechanical strength and accept a uniform rubber stopper. Macalaster stocks 2.5-, 3.5-, 5- and 12-gallon solution bottles to for those requiring large storage options.

Our media bottles come in two sizes – 100mL and 5000mL. The Pyrex bottles have a threaded neck to accommodate a screw cap.

Lastly, we offer serum bottle blanks in 4000mL and 9000mL sizes. These Pyrex bottles hold contents that require protection from outside contamination. They have round shoulders, a short neck and narrow mouth. The bottle blanks do not feature graduated measurements on the side.
